Lisa Heiseler Extends Her Contract with 1. FC Union Berlin

Lisa Heiseler, captain of the women's team at 1. FC Union Berlin, has extended her contract and will remain with the club in the future.

A Home-Grown Leader

Lisa Heiseler has been wearing the 1. FC Union Berlin shirt since 2012 and has been part of the women's team squad since 2015. This makes the 26-year-old the longest-serving player in the team alongside Celine Frank. The attacking midfielder made her debut in the first team at the age of 17, scoring her first goal immediately. In her debut season in 2015/16, Union won promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, where Heiseler was able to contribute four goals in 19 games, though this was not enough to hinder Union’s ultimate relegation.

In the following seven years in the Regionalliga Nordost, Heiseler became not only a top performer, but a role model on and off the pitch. She has captained the team since 2022 and last season celebrated the club's return to the 2. Bundesliga and winning of the BFV Pokal.

Heiseler has scored an impressive 104 goals in 103 Regionalliga Nordost games and has also played a decisive role in Union’s strong first half of the 2. Liga season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in eleven games. Heiseler has captained the team in all but one of the team's 14 competitive matches this season, missing only the cup game in Gütersloh. Heiseler has now made 135 league appearances for Union, scoring 111 goals.

The views on the extension

‘Union is a club close to my heart and I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved in recent months and years. With the help of the club, I was able to grow into a professional footballer and I'm very happy to be able to continue on this path. We also want to be successful in the new year and I will do everything I can to support the team in the best possible way,’ says Lisa Heiseler, looking forward to her time at Union.

Jennifer Zietz, Director of Women's Professional Football, said: ‘Lisa is our captain and has embodied the club for over twelve years. She has made the step up to professional football very well and is a leading player in the 2. Bundesliga, both on and off the pitch. I am therefore very pleased that we were able to reach an agreement and that we will continue on our journey together.’
