Future youth football hub for Union
Our new home:
Currently the youth development is carried out by around 70 full-time and voluntary staff. The office is located at Hämmerlingstraße 88. The two oldest teams play their home games at the FEZ Berlin pitches, while the other nine teams use the venues at Bruno-Bürgel-Weg 63 and Hämmerlingstraße.
The decentralised infrastructure includes various training facilities as well as the youth office and, due to the spatial distances, places special demands on players and staff in the youth department. For years, the club has therefore been working on plans to build a new training ground. With the support of the state of Berlin and the district of Treptow-Köpenick, the construction of the youth training centre at Bruno-Bürgel-Weg 63, which will take approximately 12 months, will begin this season. Two grass pitches, two artificial turf pitches and several small pitches will make it possible to train at just one location again. The centrepiece of the facility will be the youth centre. The youth office will move together with the academy, the women's and girls' department and the sports promotion department. The facility will offer state-of-the-art conditions for competitive football training. A boarding school, physiotherapy and athletics area are also part of the facility, as are various regeneration units, modern training rooms, recreation and kitchen areas for athletes and staff.
The youth centre and training ground will be the new home of the youth and amateur sections of 1. FC Union Berlin. However, the new training ground will also be open to many of Union's partners in the field of competitive sport and sports promotion. Nursery sports and primary school tournaments will also become an integral part of the weekly routines on the grounds. Coach and teacher training courses will be integrated and the Flatow secondary school's compulsory elective football course will be held here from the very beginning. The various company teams will continue to use their existing training times in the evenings.
The realisation of the youth academy centre and the diverse training areas will give a significant boost to the necessary further development in all areas.
