Promote competitive sports & contribute to sports funding
We understand the interplay between daycare, school, and sports clubs as a crucial factor for child development. In order to enable health and movement promotion for as many children as possible, it is important to create offerings where children spend a lot of time: in kindergartens and schools.
Cooperations with educational institutions benefit children. Before the children go home and engage in sports through parental initiative, movement, sports, and play are already integrated into the daycare and school routine. This is an inclusive, accessible, and socially just approach.
A vital sports location in Treptow-Köpenick, partner clubs, and friends in Berlin and Brandenburg form the basis for our youth work. We see it as our mission for 1. FC Union Berlin to become a lively companion during daycare and school time and to instill enthusiasm for club sports.
The trainers of the sports promotion program actively shape the transition from daycare to school as an integral part of the educational institutions, serve as a link to sports clubs, and form a prevention chain to ensure that children stay in sports.

Pillars of sports promotion
KEULES KNIRPSE immerse themselves in a colorful and exciting world of sports as early as three years old, aiming to develop a positive attitude towards movement. Movement and play allow children to learn in an age- and development-appropriate manner. In their daily routine at the daycare, children gather their first experiences in movement, face challenges, romp around, and explore. This playful introduction to the basics lays the foundation for their individual sports biography and facilitates their entry into school sports.
This is supported in the context of UNION MACHT SCHULE at partner schools by a coach from 1. FC Union Berlin during the school entry phase. In the ball games and football AG, children have the opportunity to pursue their passion.
UNION IN FAHRT does not invite, but comes by itself! A lively exchange of coaches, teachers, and educators as well as their further training makes sports a favorite subject and membership in the football club a fixed part of life. For this reason, we create year-round training opportunities for educational institutions and football clubs.
Movement, fun and joy during the school holidays. It doesn't get any better than that. Together with our partner clubs, we organize HOLIDAY CAMPS in Berlin and the surrounding area.
The goalkeeper is a key position in the sport of football. The GOALKEEPER SCHOOL allows children additional support alongside their club training.

Berlin's professional clubs are collaborating.
The Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family is the sponsor of the initiatives "Professional clubs make daycare" and "Professional clubs make school". 1. FC Union Berlin, Alba Berlin, the Berlin Recycling Volleys, the Eisbären Berlin, the Füchse Berlin, and Hertha BSC are participating in these programs and are sustainably promoting sports in daycare and schools.
In 2012, the program "Professional clubs make school" was initiated. Meanwhile, the six professional clubs are cooperating within this framework with 29 elementary schools. In 2018, the program was expanded to include "Professional clubs make daycare".
1. FC Union Berlin integrates the existing collaborations in this network into the club's own projects KEULES KNIRPSE and UNION MACHT SCHULE. The support of the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family is an important part of the sports promotion of 1. FC Union Berlin.
