Union test against Dynamo Kiev
Conclusion of the training camp:
Next Thursday, 18.07.2024 at 17:00, 1. FC Union Berlin will play a test match against FC Dynamo Kiev. The match against the Ukrainian record champions will take place at the SV Kematen sports ground (Sportplatzweg 1, 6175 Kematen/Tyrol).
The lie of the land
FC Dynamo Kyiv have been at a training camp in Austria since 08.07.2024. In addition to the daily training sessions, the Whites and Blues have already played two test matches against German teams: a 0-0 draw against SC Paderborn last Wednesday and a 2-2 draw against FC Schalke 04 last Saturday.
The match against the team from the Ukrainian capital marks the end of their first summer training camp and the second test match of this year's preparations. Union had previously recorded a 4-0 win against BSG Chemie Leipzig.
The opponents
Coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi's team finished second in the Ukrainian Premjer-Liha last season. In the Europa Conference League qualifiers, Dynamo Kiev were eliminated by Besiktas Istanbul in the fourth round.
Ukrainian international Vladyslav Vanat is a particular goal threat. The centre-forward scored 24 points in 27 games in the Premjer-Liha and was nominated for the squad for the European Championship, where he was substituted twenty minutes before the end of the third group game against Belgium.
After the clash with 1. FC Union Berlin, Dynamo already have their first competitive matches coming up. On 23.07. and 31.07.2024, the team will face Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
The direct comparison
The history of the two teams is easy to recount: there has only been one clash so far. Three years ago, 1. FC Union Berlin met FC Dynamo Kiev at the same venue during their summer training camp. Back then, the encounter ended in a 1-1 draw.
The personnel
Union head coach Bo Svensson will be without a number of European Championship players for the second test match, who will not start training with the Bundesliga team until next week. European Championship participants Frederik Rönnow, András Schäfer, Josip Juranović and new signing László Bénes will therefore not be available. Alexander Schwolow, Jérôme Roussillon and Kevin Volland are also missing through injury.

The sports ground in Kematen offers parking facilities for football fans wishing to attend the match and will open its gates at 15:30. Tickets are available at the box office on match day and cost €12, concessions €8. Reduced prices apply for pensioners, disabled persons, students and young people aged between 15 and 18.
