Union Arrive in Oberlängenfeld
Start of the First Training Camp
After a four-hour journey, the men’s team of 1. FC Union Berlin have arrived at their first summer training camp presented by sonnenschutz.de. The Bundesliga team will spend until Friday among the beauty of the Austrian Ötztal.
Focus on the first session in the Tyrolean Alps
The team travelled by plane from Schönhagen to Innsbruck and from there by bus to Oberlängenfeld. After checking into the team's accommodation, everyone had lunch together before the team completed their first training session. In front of the many Union fans who had travelled with them, the focus was on working with the ball. Later, over dinner, both players and coaches were able to look ahead to the day ahead, with two training sessions on the programme at 10:30 and 16:00.
The squad
Head coach Bo Svensson and his team had 24 players available for the first session, while Alexander Schwolow, Jerôme Roussillon and Kevin Volland trained individually. Alex Král was absent due to a private appointment, he will join the team tomorrow.
European Championship participants Frederik Rönnow, András Schäfer, Josip Juranović, László Bénes and Leopold Querfeld are still on holiday, while Tymoteusz Puchacz, who also took part in the European Championships, also joined the team today.
Meanwhile Jaden Rodtnick, Julien Friedrich, Leon Prosche and Oluwaseun Ogbemudia from the U-19’s team have also travelled to complete the squad.
A new Guest at the training camp
In order to maintain the optimum training conditions despite the absence of Frederik Rönnow and the injury to Alexander Schwolow, goalkeeper Carl Klaus is joining the team at the training camp as a trialist. The 30-year-old goalkeeper last played for 1. FC Nürnberg (19 appearances in the last 2. Liga season) and is currently without a club.
Quote of the day: "You look a bit like an apricot dumpling," was overheard in a conversation in front of the dessert counter.
