Tymoteusz Puchacz loaned to Kaiserslautern
From Berlin to the Betzenberg (via Athens)
After six months playing in Athens for Panathinaikos, Union full-back Tymoteusz Puchacz is facing a new challenge. After spells in Turkey and Greece, the 24-year-old is heading back to Germany, on loan to second-division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Title narrowly missed
In the Greek capital Puchacz had his eyes on a long-awaited league triumph, but his hopes were dashed at the last. With a two-point lead over AEK Athens, "PAO" went into the play-offs with hopes high for a first title in 13 years. However, their lead did not last long. On the second of ten matchdays, Panathinaikos could only draw against NFC Volos. AEK won against PAOK Thessaloniki, overtaking their city rivals due on goal difference, and staying there, ultimately taking the championship that went with it.
Puchacz was mostly rused as a substitute and played an average of half an hour per game. At the ambitious 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the Polish defender should gain more playing time.
