Tim Skarke makes switch to Union

1. FC Union Berlin’s fifth new signing is in the door at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Following Danilo Doekhi, Janik Haberer, Jamie Leweling and Paul Seguin, winger Tim Skarke has completed his switch from 2.Bundesliga outfit SV Darmstadt where his contract comes to an end this summer.

Skarke’s career started at another staple club in Germany’s second tier, 1. FC Heidenheim. Under Frank Schmidt, he forced his way into the first-team where he played alongside current Union number nine Andreas Voglsammer and former players Robert Andrich and Sebastian Griesbeck. The one-time capped German U21 international earned a move to Darmstadt in 2019 as the Lillies looked to return to the Bundesliga. In total, the 25-year-old has played 137 times in the 2.Bundesliga, scoring 16 goals and claiming 11 assists.

“I’m very happy to be able to take the next steps in my career at a club like 1. FC Union Berlin. I want to use my ability to help further the excellent development the club has undergone in recent years,” said Skarke.

“With three competitions ahead, we need a big squad. Tim prefers to play on the right but can also play off the left. With him, we add another exciting and flexible option,” added Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin’s Managing Director for Professional Football.
