Paul Jaeckel Loaned to Eintracht Braunschweig
A Season's Return to Lower Saxony
1. FC Union Berlin have loaned defender Paul Jaeckel to Eintracht Braunschweig for the current season, meaning a return to Lower Saxony for the 26-year-old, where he previously played for VfL Wolfsburg from 2014 to 2018.
From Wolfsburg’s youth to the cloverleaves
A regular at SpVgg Greuther Fürth and a newly crowned European Under-21 champion, Paul Jaeckel joined Union in the summer of 2021, making 62 appearances so far for the club. These include three appearances in the UEFA Champions League, three in the UEFA Europa League and four in the UEFA Europa Conference League. He also got on the scoresheet in the 2022/23 Bundesliga season when he scored the decisive goal with his header in the 1-0 win against VfB Stuttgart on matchday nine.
The view on the loan
“We decided together with Paul on a loan to Eintracht Braunschweig for the coming season,” said Union’s director of men’s professional football, Horst Heldt, on the temporary deal. “This loan gives him the opportunity to gain regular match practice at a high level and to continue his development. We are convinced that he will benefit from this experience and wish him all the best for this time.”
