Michael Parensen named new Technical Director

1. FC Union Berlin have expanded the management of the first-team football department at the club. Long-time Union professional Michael Parensen, who was previously assistant to the Managing Director of Professional Football, is now taking the Technical Director role in the same department.

"The requirements within the professional player department have increased significantly due to the development across the last few years. We would like to take this development into account. In the newly created position of technical director, Michael Parensen will have more responsibility in the future. I wish him every success in this important task and look forward to our continued cooperation," said Union President Dirk Zingler.

"Michael has familiarised himself very well over the past two years and has shown that he can transfer and contribute his valuable experience as a long-time player at Union to other areas as well. I'm delighted to have his support and am sure that our already proven cooperation will become much more intensive in the future," said Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin's Managing Director of Professional Football.

"The two years following the end of my playing career have been very instructive and have opened up many new perspectives for me. I am delighted with the trust placed in me by the Executive Committee and the department management and I'm very happy to take on this new task. All of us at the club are working to continue our success, and I want to do everything in my power to contribute to that," explained Parensen.
