At the end of the transfer window, 1. FC Union Berlin's Danish forward Marcus Ingvartsen has completed a loan transfer to fellow Bundesliga side Mainz.

Ahead of our first campaign in the Bundesliga, 25-year-old U21 international Ingvartsen joined from Belgian side Genk. In 68 matches under Urs Fischer, he scored nine goals and set up 11 for his team-mates. He made 29 appearances for Denmark's U21 side and has progressed into the squad for the Danish national team, making his debut in 2021.

"Marcus had a very successful time with us and now asked for the opportunity to move to Mainz. After internal consideration, we have decided to grant him this wish. We would like to thank him for his achievements and wish him every success in Mainz," said Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin's Managing Director for Professional Football.
