The 25-year-old goalkeeper Lennart Grill will not return to 1. FC Union Berlin after his loan at VfL Osnabrück but will instead be loaned to second division club Eintracht Braunschweig for the 2024/25 season. The loan deal includes a performance-based purchase clause.

Grill initially joined Union on loan from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the 2022/23 season before signing permanently in March 2023. Last summer, he was loaned out to Osnabrück, where the goalkeeper appeared in 15 games in the 2. Bundesliga. Grill made eight appearances for Union, including two in the DFB Pokal and one in the UEFA Europa League. He kept four clean sheets.

The goalkeeper will now start the new second division season with Eintracht Braunschweig.

The views on the loan

"During his time at Osnabrück, Lennart always showed the will to continuously improve and was always there when he was needed,” said Union’s director of men’s professional football, Horst Heldt, on the deal. “We therefore consider another loan deal to be sensible and wish Lennart a successful time in Braunschweig."
