Frederik Rönnow and 1. FC Union Berlin have agreed to stay together, with the extension of the goalkeeper's contract.

An ever-present between the posts

The eight-time Danish international has been part of Union’s goalkeeping team since the summer of 2021 since when he has stood between the posts in 79 competitive matches, keeping 23 clean sheets. The 6' 2" tall goalkeeper has made 17 appearances in the Bundesliga, played six matches in the UEFA Champions League and kept goal twice in the DFB Pokal this season alone.

The views on the contract extension

"The atmosphere at Union is really great, which is particularly evident now that we are going through a very difficult phase together,” said Rönnow on the announcement of the new deal. “We've achieved incredible things together over the past few years and both the club and the team have made a significant contribution to my personal development. I feel very comfortable here and will do everything I can to continue to be a good support for the team."

"We are delighted to be able to keep a key player like Frederik at the club right now,” added Oliver Ruhnert, Union’s director of professional football. “We appreciate working with him and look forward to continuing to benefit from his quality and team spirit."
