Our story

1. FC Union Berlin e.V. were founded at a conference that took place in the late afternoon of 20.01.1966 in the club house of the Oberschöneweide Transformatorenwerk where, in the club house hall, the name "1. FC Union Berlin" was publicly announced for the first time. It was based on a survey spread through the press among Berlin football fans – having been invited to submit suggestions for an appropriate name and corresponding emblem.

Our home since 1920.

We play our home games at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Currently, our stadium has a capacity of 22,012 (18,395 standing and 3,617 seated places). The name comes from the adjacent old forester's lodge, which currently houses, among other things, the offices of the club management.

The stadium was opened on 7 August 1920 and has undergone various structural changes over the decades.
