Four players from 1. FC Union Berlin's women's team have been called up for the first international break this year.

The nominees

Nour Youssef is in the squad for the Palestinian national team for the first time. The attacker is preparing for the West Asian Championship starting next Monday. The tournament will take place from 19 to 29 February 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In addition to hosts Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, Guam and Nepal are also taking part in the tournament by invitation. In the group stage, Youssef and her team will face Iraq, Syria and Nepal. The two best teams in each group stage will qualify for the semi-finals.

Nour Youssef could face team-mate Sarah Abu Sabbah in the clash for the West Asian Championship. Top scorer Abu Sabbah has been called up to the Jordanian national team squad. The team of national coach Maher Abu Hantash is the record champion of the competition with five titles. Jordan has won each of the last three tournaments (2014, 2019, 2022). The title defense will start in the group stage with matches against Saudi Arabia, Guam and Lebanon. Youssef and Abu Sabbah can therefore only meet in the knockout phase.

Athanasia Moraitou will be travelling with the Greek national team from 19 to 26 February 2024. The midfielder will face Romania and Turkey in two friendlies in Antalya, Turkey.

Defne Sarioğlu was also nominated for the Turkish U19 youth team. The goalkeeper will play three friendlies within a week. First appointment for the "Ay-Yildizlilar" will be against Belarus, followed by two games against Slovakia.
