Prysmian Group becomes Union Premium Sponsor
New deal:
Prysmian Group, the world's leading manufacturer of cable and wiring systems, have become a Premium Sponsor of 1. FC Union Berlin. The Italian company was represented in Köpenick for the first time at the match against FC St. Pauli at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
Over the next two years, Prysmian Group will be following the home games from the company's own box at the stadium, while showing their products on the LED boards around the pitch.
"It's important to us that we don't just commit ourselves to our customers but also support the society in which we operate," said Frederik Persson, the company's managing director. "This cooperation allows our employees to watch good football and be proud of the company that they work for - a real win-win situation!"
"Securing the sponsorship of a global company makes us a bit proud and we're very much looking forward to working together," added Thomas Stäpke, Managing Director for Finance and Marketing at 1. FC Union Berlin. "Anyone who knows Union knows that our partnerships are often based on special similarities. The connection to the Prysmian Group results both from the proximity regionally to the production site in Köpenick, but also the historial roots of the club. 1. FC Union Berlin was founded in 1966 in the club house of the VEB Transformatorenwerk Oberspree (TRO / Electic Transformer). The VEB Kabelwerk Oberspree with the Köpenick Kabelwerk (Cable works) was one of the founding companies which supported our club in GDR times."
