Last Match
Union used the opportunity to go head-to-head with an in-form, promoted side on Saturday. Urs Fischer's team started brightly at Magdeburg with two goals in eight minutes. Levin Öztunali's cross in the first minute was headed in by Andreas Voglsammer before Kevin Behrens ruthlessly punished Christian Titz's team for some sloppy build-up play. Baris Atik missed a penalty kick before one of his dangerous crosses took a deflection off Paul Seguin, beating Frederik Rönnow. Keita Endo came off the bench to score a third in the second half, while Tim Skarke opened his Union account following his transfer from Darmstadt.
Opposition
Alongside Magdeburg, Eintracht Braunschweig are back in the 2.Bundesliga. The historic club, who won the German championship in 1967, secured automatic promotion in second place. Michael Schiele's team are long into their pre-season campaign ahead of the new season with five wins from six. Eintracht have looked to strengthen their options this summer with Ron-Robert Hoffmann's arrival from Bayern, Bremen's Luc Ihorst, Anton Donkor, Saulo Decarli, Fabio Kaufmann and Immanuel Pherai all joining. An old friend in the Braunschweig camp is Bryan Henning who is from Berlin and played for Union until his departure in 2015.
