Union sign Polish U21 international Puchacz
New arrival:
1. FC Union Berlin have completed the signing of 22-year-old left-back Tymoteusz Puchacz from Polish Ekstraklasa side Lech Poznan.
Puchacz, who will represent his home country at Euro 2020, has played five times for the U21 national team of Poland. He joined Lech Poznan's academy in 2013 and featured on loan at Zaglebie Sosnowiec and GKS Katowice. After gaining a foothold in first-team football, he returned to make an impact at Lech Poznan. He has 74 matches in Poland's top division under his belt, while featuring in the UEFA Europa League six times.
"The Bundesliga is one of the strongest leagues in the world, so to play there is a pleasure and honour. I'm really happy that I can show what I can do there in the new season. I'm looking forward to meeting my team-mates and being able to work with Urs Fischer and his team. And of course, I can't wait to experience the special atmosphere at the famous Alte Försterei, when hopefully as many as fans as possible will be soon be at the stadium," said the left-back.
"Tymoteusz was a regular first-team player at Lech Poznan over the last two years and he has already proven his ability internationally. With him, we are getting a player capable of developing, who can also make our team even better in our third season in the Bundesliga.
