Union open league campaign with Augsburg at home

1. FC Union Berlin's second season in Germany's top division will start at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei against FC Augsburg in September.

In the previous campaign, Union's first-ever point in the Bundesliga was claimed in Augsburg, and Urs Fischer's squad will be looking to go one better when Heiko Herrlich's side come to Berlin on the weekend of September 18-21.

Union's first adventure on the road is at Borussia-Park against Mönchengladbach on the weekend of September 25-28, 2020. This is followed by a home match against Mainz on October 2-4.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in place across Germany, the 2020/21 Bundesliga season will commence behind closed doors. The DFL will confirm the date and times of the league fixtures in the coming weeks and months.

1. FC Union Berlin's first eagerly-anticipated derby match will take place in Charlottenburg against Hertha on the weekend of December 4-7, 2020. The return match at the Alte Försterei — where Union ran out 1-0 winners last season — is planned for the weekend of April 3-5, 2021.

Another baptism of fire follows the Berlin Derby when 1. FC Union Berlin host German champions Bayern Munich at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei between 11-13 December, 2020.

Bundesliga clubs will deal with a more compact winter schedule this year to accomodate the full national and international fixture calendar. Union's final league match of the year is at home to Borussia Dortmund between December 18-21. If Union progress against Karlsruhe, the calendar year will conclude with a second round DFB Pokal fixture on December 22 or 23.

The 2020/21 Bundesliga season finishes with the traditional 15:30 matches on Week 33 & 34. Union's penultimate game of the campaign is at Bayer Leverkusen on May 15, a week before RB Leipzig come to Köpenick (May 22) for the last league match of the season.
