Union in friendly action against Chemnitzer FC

1. FC Union Berlin will use the international break to keep on their toes with a friendly match against third-tier Chemnitzer FC on Thursday. Kick off is at 17:30 local time.

Opposition Check: Familiar faces in Chemnitz ranks

1. FC Union Berlin and Chemnitzer FC share a founding year — 1966. Formerly known as FC Karl-Marx-Stadt, Chemnitz's recent history has been troubled. Financial difficulties led to insolvency and the club were relegated to the Regionalliga. But they are back in Germany's third division under coach David Bergner, who played for Union Berlin. Thomas Sobotzik, the club's sporting director, also used to wear the club colours of the Köpenick team. It's been a difficult start in the 3.Liga with three points from seven matches.
