Six Unioner Hit the Road
First International Break of the Year

With the beginning of spring, the Bundesliga season is taking its first international break. A total of six players from the men's team at 1. FC Union Berlin have been called up for their countries.
The nominees
Left-back Jérôme Roussillon has again been selected for the Guadeloupe national team. The Caribbean side last played in the CONCACAF Nations League in November 2024, winning 6-0 and 1-0 against the Cayman Islands. Roussillon and the team will now face Nicaragua.

Central defender Leopold Querfeld is once again part of the Austrian national team squad. The 21-year-old came on for half an hour against Norway in mid-October and could now get more game time under coach Ralf Rangnick. After not being nominated in November, Querfeld is now back in the squad.

László Bénes is hoping to see the Slovakian national team beat Slovenia in the UEFA Nations League Play-Offs. The Slovakians qualified for the tie by beating Estonia in their last group game at home.

András Schäfer and the Hungarian national team also have two important matches in the UEFA Nations League Play-Offs. After a clear 4-0 loss to the Netherlands and a draw against Germany, the team are now hoping to beat Turkey.

After Josip Juranović last played for the Croatian national team at the 2024 European Championship, he had to watch the group stage of the UEFA Nations League from afar due to injury. Now the full-back is back in the team and looking forward to the quarter-final matches against France.

Tom Rothe is hoping for more action in the German U20 team. After the left-back missed the international matches in November, U20 coach Hannes Wolf nominated the 6’3” full-back for the first test matches of the year against Czechia and Portugal.
