Pedersen leaves Union for Birmingham City
Championship move:
Left-back Kristian Pedersen has left 1. FC Union Berlin to join English Championship side Birmingham City. The Dane arrived in Berlin in the summer of 2016 from HB Köge and went on to make 64 appearances for the Köpenick club. In those games, he notched up six assists and scored one goal.
“It’s not easy for me to leave as I felt really comfortable in Berlin. I’ve developed a lot here, but now it’s time to take the next step, so I’m looking forward to the Championship and Birmingham. The fans, the team, the entire club – the support at Union was fantastic. I will always keep fond memories of this club. Thanks, Union!” said the departing left back.
“Kristian Pedersen is a young player, who has undertaken an incredible development over the past few years and that certainly isn’t done yet. He has quickly found his way around in Germany and developed a leading role in the team. We wish him well and that he can continue this successful development in England,” added Oliver Ruhnert, the club’s managing director for first-team at 1. FC Union Berlin.
Kristian Pedersen is moving to St. Andrews with immediate effect. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the amount of the transfer fee.
