Michael Parensen extends Union Berlin contract

Michael Parensen has agreed a further one-year-deal with 1. FC Union Berlin and will be part of the club's first-ever Bundesliga campaign.

The 32-year-old has won the hearts of the Köpenick club's supporters with his versatiliy, passion and big game performances since joining from 1. FC Köln's reserves at the age of 22. Parensen has played more times in the 2.Bundesliga than anyone else for Union (205), while also leading the club out of the third division a decade ago. In total, Parensen has made 237 appearances for Union.

"I have always stressed that I am fit and want to continue my career," said Parensen. "That's why I'm happy that the club and I will continue to work together in the future and that I can help the team in the coming season. We want to develop further in the future, be successful together and we will do everything we can to achieve our goals as a team. I am looking forward to being part of the Union family."

Parensen's new contract is valid for both Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga football.
