Mees completes switch to Holstein Kiel
Deadline Day Deal:
Joshua Mees has departed 1. FC Union Berlin and completed a move to Holstein Kiel in the 2.Bundesliga.
The Saarland-born attacker signed in Köpenick in 2018 and featured 21 times in our promotion-winning season from the 2.Bundesliga. Mees featured in both Relegation Play-Off matches against VfB Stuttgart in May 2019. In the Bundesliga, Mees made 16 appearances and managed two goals in three games in the DFB Pokal. As of now, he will pull on the jersey of Holstein Kiel.
"It was Joshua's wish to play more. Due to the competitiveness in our squad, we agreed to this request. We are very reluctant to lose Josh as he has fought his way back again and again despite some injuries. He has been an integral part of our squad for the last two successful seasons. We wish Josh all the best in Kiel and his future steps," said Oliver Ruhnert, Director of Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
