Laurenz Dehl extends contract at Union

Laurenz Dehl has extended his contract with 1. FC Union Berlin, which was set to expire at the end of the current season. The 20-year-old signed his first professional deal in 2019 before going out on loan for experience at Hallescher FC and returning to the club in 2021.

"I've been with Union for over ten years now and have grown up with the club. It's my club and I feel absolutely at home here. Therefore, it was logical for me to extend my contract. Together with those responsible, we discussed the next steps that will help to further my development," Dehl said after his extension.

"Laurenz's contract extension makes us very happy, as we want to train him at the right-back position in the future. He has already shown since the beginning of the season that he really brings a lot of talent there and we see him there with us in the foreseeable future. As it is important for him to gain match practice and further experience, we are aiming for a loan for the coming season," said Oliver Ruhnert, 1. FC Union Berlin's Managing Director for Professional Football.
