Kahraman signs new contract and goes on loan
Squad update:
Cihan Kahraman has extended his contract with 1. FC Union Berlin for another year and will immediately head out on loan to FSV Union Fürstenwalde until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old will head out to the Regionalliga club and teams up with their head coach Andre Meyer, who was previously a coach at the Union youth academy until this summer.
"Cihan is a talented player, but the current competition in the squad means it's difficult for him to get game time. It's now important for him to play, gain experience and assert himself in men's football. Therefore, I believe the step to the lower leagues is an opportunity for Cihan to prove himself and develop his abilities further," said Oliver Ruhnert, Director of Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin.
"I really want to get on the pitch and play football. I see this as the perfect opportunity at Fürstenwalde. I learned a lot in first-team training during the past season; now it's about proving this on the pitch in a competitive environment. The extension of my contract with Eisern Union is a sign of confidence I have in the club. I'd like to develop further in the Regionalliga so that I can play at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in the future," said Kahraman.
