Founded in April 1947, SV Lichtenberg 47 was set up as a multi-sport organisation. In addition to their football operations, Lichtenberg also offer table tennis, boxing and bowling as opportunities to compete. In the GDR, the club celebrated a number of successes, including a season in the former East German top division.
In recent times, Lichtenberg are on the up. Last season, the club was promoted to Germany's fourth division, the Regionalliga Nordost. After three games, Lichtenberg have secured three points and sit in 12th position. The club has one outstanding league match already against Optik Rathenow — the original clash was postponed due to weather conditions.
