Four players receive international call
Union International:
Four players from 1. FC Union Berlin have been called up to represent their national teams during the close season.
Sebastian Andersson remains a firm favourite of Sweden coach Janne Andersson and the 27-year-old is rewarded for his 13 goals and tireless performances in the 2.Bundesliga. Andersson and Sweden will take on Malta in European Championship qualification on June 7 before they take on Spain three days later.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz has been given the chance to impress Poland's national team coach Jerzy Brzeczek following an outstanding season for Union. The 31-year-old kept 15 clean sheets in the 2.Bundesliga and can go toe-to-toe with Poland's impressive bunch of goalkeepers during the summer. Gikiewicz will be looking to appear for his national team against Macedonia on June 7 and versus Israel three days later.
Youngster Cihan Kahraman, who spent last season on loan at Union Fürstenwalde, has the chance to impress for Turkey's Under-21 squad. Kahraman already has six caps to his name and scored one goal for Turkey.
1. FC Union Berlin club captain Christopher Trimmel could be called into the Austrian national team squad and is on the standby list.
