Day 5: Tactics, Finishing, Recoveries

We've reached the half way point at the training camp in Klosterpforte: Five days are gone, five more are still to come. On Thursday, the focus was once again on putting the lads through their paces with several ball-focused drills.

With the help of several drills, the players prepared themselves for a selection of small-sided games. At the end of the day's first session, the players were allowed to fire shots on goal - and with a twist! If three finishes landed in the goal at the same time, then the coaching and support staff had to complete 20 pushups.

After the lunch break, the players were back on the pitch for the second session of the day. Fischer's men practiced dealing numerical disadvantages with four defending facing six attackers. Two groups worked at the same time, while a third group went through further fitness exercises with our athletic coach Martin Krüger. The last exercise of the day went down with a bang - one of the balls landed in the nearby lake and it was tasked to Christopher Trimmel to fish it back out. He returned successfully with the ball and received the warm applause of his team-mates.
