Day 4: Abdullahi's issues end and he joins up with team

Urs Fischer's team gathered in the hotel at 8am for today's breakfast before heading out on to the field for the 10am morning session.

After warming up, the team split into two halves. Assistant coach Markus Hoffmann organised different close-control and passing exercises for the team. Athletic coach Martin Kruger took the other half of the squad and worked on their fitness. The 39-year-old's 'Life Kinetics' exercises demanded maximum concentration from the players and caused a few laughs on the part of the fans who travelled with him. Later, the focus of today's training session was on quick switches of play and attacking in wide positions.

There was positive news in the afternoon for the group, who were given the afternoon to relax. Nigerian forward Suleiman Abdullahi finally returned to join up with his team-mates following passport problems on his return to Germany. The 22-year-old was greeted by the players in the lobby and given the afternoon to recover from a rather stressful few days.

On Friday, there will be a session at 10am as normal. The first-team squad is then in action against Austrian second division side SV Ried at the DANA Arena in Windischgarsten. Kick off tomorrow is at 18:00 local time.
