Day 1: Union move into training camp

After Saturday's season opener at home to Brondby, the squad was given the following 24 hours to put their feet up at home. A 2-1 win over the Danish side gave Urs Fischer's team a happy start to the campaign with 12,000 at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei to see Sebastian Polter and Joshua Mees hit the back of the net.

This morning, Monday, the players arrived at Tegel Airport around 08:30 for their flight to Austria.

A travelling party, included 32 members of the squad. Suleiman Abdullahi is expected to join the team next week following visa issues in his homeland. Lennard Maloney and Cihan Kahraman will look to find clubs in the next week, in order to gain some valuable playing experience over the next 12 months. All the coaches were present, other than Sebastian Bönig who will spend the first half of the week at his DFB FussballLehrer course in Köln.

Bus driver Sven Weinel met the team at Salzburg Airport and drove the team to Windischgarten in Upper Austria around 150km away. The Hotel Dilly Resort is 1. FC Union Berlin's base for the next 10 days of training. Upon arrival, Urs Fischer and Markus Hoffmann checked out the surroundings before the players had a light run at 5pm.

On Tuesday, the players will go through their paces at 10am and in the afternoon.
