Daube, Leistner, Fürstner, Mesenhöler leave Union

Daniel Mesenhöler, Toni Leistner, Dennis Daube and Stephan Fürstner will leave 1. FC Union Berlin at the end of their contracts as a summer of change continues in Köpenick.

All four players are under contract at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei until 30.06.2018, but those will not be renewed further.

Centre-back Leistner has been a stalwart for the club in recent seasons. The 27-year-old racked up 119 times appearances for the Köpenick club following his transfer from Dynamo Dresden in July 2014.

Meanwhile, midfielder Daube arrived from FC St Pauli in the summer of 2015 and went on to wear the red-and-white shirt 53 times, scoring three goals and assisting five.

Joining in the same window as Daube, Fürstner went on to make 73 appearances for Union Berlin after transferring from Greuther Fürth.

Latterly, 22-year-old goalkeeper Mesenhöler signed from 1. FC Köln in 2016 and would hold fort between the sticks 29 times, including 26 appearances in the second division.
