Midfielder Gets First Professional Deal

Contract for Aljoscha Kemlein

After a successful introduction into the first-team squad during pre-season, the gifted midfielder has been rewarded with a contract.

 1. FC Union Berlin have signed midfielder Aljoscha Kemlein to a professional contract.

The Berlin-born midfielder comes from Union's own youth systemand has played in all of the youth teams in Union's academy system since the D-Jugend (11+). For the 2021/2022 season, Kemlein switched to the U-19s, where he played all of the games as a regular starter, usually also wearing the captain's armband, scoring five goals. His performances also earned him three nominations for the German national U-18 team, with whom he played at international level in March and May 2022. 

In preparation for the current season, the 1.85m tall right-footer travelled to the summer training camp in Austria together with the rest of the first-team squad, completing the entire Bundesliga pre-season programme.  

"Of course I'm very happy that the club have put their trust in me and are continuing to keep me in their plans," said Kemlein on the signing of his contract. "I'm looking forward to this challenge, and will give everything to be successful here." 

"Aljoscha has often shown his qualities in his time here at the club so far and we are convinced that his development is far from over. We are therefore very pleased that he sees his future at 1. FC Union Berlin," said Oliver Ruhnert, Union's director of professional football.
