1. FC Union Berlin pay visit to Rot-Weiß Erfurt

1. FC Union Berlin will rack up the minutes during the international break with a friendly match arranged against FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt at the Steigerwaldstadion.
This match is part of Rot-Weiß Erfurt's campaign to raise funds against potential insolvency and relegation from the Regionalliga Nordost.
Their campaign is titled "Bratwurst vs. Currywurst" and they will have a special shirt and scarf for the occasion on Wednesday night, kick off at 18:00.
Club Profile:
Founded six days after the current phase of 1. FC Union Berlin in 1966, Rot-Weiß Erfurt have spent most of their time since the 1990s in the Regionalliga or Germany's 3.Liga. Erfurt were relegated from the third division last season, ending a run of 10 seasons in that division. Previously, the club was known was Turbine Erfurt and they won the East German championship twice in 1954 & 1955. Perhaps their most famous face is Clemens Fritz, who played there between 1999 and 2001 before enjoying a solid Bundesliga career with Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen.
Record: Upper-hand for Erfurt
Although Union Berlin and Rot-Weiß Erfurt have a long history together, the last match took place a decade ago. The clubs battled it out in the newly-established German third division in season 2008/09. Both matches ended 1-1. A total of 51 matches have been played between the clubs with RWE winning 23 of them and Union 14.
