After 1. FC Union Berlin's double celebration last year in Berlin's athletes of the Year awards, they are again among the nominees in the category "Best Team" in 2022, and head coach Urs Fischer is again up for election in the category of "Best Coach". This is the 44th time that the capital has honoured its athletes for their outstanding achievements.

A year ago, Union captain Christopher Trimmel accepted the award on behalf of his team and  Fischer was also delighted to receive a golden bear as "Coach of the Year 2021".

From now until 25.11.2022, votes can be cast for the nominated candidates at www.champions-berlin.de.

As in previous years, the voting will be made by a jury of experts (sports directors, media partners, representatives of the city and its sporting bodies among others) alongside the people of the city. The results of the public vote and the jury of experts each contributing 50 per cent to the final result.
