Since 2011, the magazine Fussball-Woche and the Berlin Regional FA have looked to find the best football people in the capital. Those fall under several categories: amateurs and amateur coaches, as well as, footballer of the year for both men and women.

This year, Union Berlin is represented.

Four first-team players have been nominated for the men's footballer of the year prize. Alongside Sebastian Andersson and Marvin Friedrich, there are nominations for Grischa Prömel and Rafal Gikiewicz. Last year's prize was taken home by Steven Skrzybski, who left the club last summer.

We also feature prominently in the women's football category, off the back of excellent performances from the first-team and reserves. Monique Eichborn, Charleen Niesler and Tizlana Udich are all nominated.
