On Saturday, 1. FC Union Berlin will bring the curtain down on a momentous second season in the Bundesliga. So much has been achieved at the club, but without sold-out stadiums we haven't been able to celebrate together. We've gone past the number of points of last season and that has secured our Bundesliga status. Even if the support was missed, the team gave it everything on the pitch.

This year also saw numerous success stories off the pitch. Many thousands of you decided to forgo refunds on season tickets to support the club. Many donated through our virtual catering kiosk. More than 10,000 fans bought a season ticket last summer even though it was feared at the time that attending games wouldn't be possible. Meanwhile, many of our sponsors have contributed significantly to the economic stability during the pandemic.

The Union community has continued to commit to social projects such as the nearby soup kitchen or football pitch renovations. The fans and the scene have contributed – selling masks in solidarity for our supporter bars. Everyone has been united to give the team backing on and off the pitch despite not being allowed in the ground.

It's time to say thanks for this.
