Union and Macron end five years of cooperation
Grazie, Macron:
On May 30, 2020, 1. FC Union Berlin's partnership with Italian kit supplier Macron will come to an end after five successful years.
Based out of Bologna, Macron took their first steps in the German market with clubs 1. FC Union Berlin and now supplies clubs like 1860 München, Karlsruhe and Hannover. From next season, Arminia Bielefeld will wear Macron in the Bundesliga.
"Macron have provided us with bespoke jersey collections designed exclusively for Union in recent years. From the classically elegant to the crazy and wild, we really had it all. In the end it was a "win-win situation" for both - exactly in line with our philosophy for developing partnerships. We would like to thank Macron for the inspiring partnership and wish our long-standing partner continued success," said Thomas Stäpke, Director for Sales and Finance at 1. FC Union Berlin.
Union and Macron had plans to develop a special shirt to mark the 100th anniversary of the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in March. However, this fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic which interrupted the Bundesliga campaign. The shirt was limited to just 1920 copies and was sold out within a few hours despite the team not officially getting the chance to wear the special edition.
A few signed Macron shirts will be available on the club's auction platform.
