1. FC Union Berlin join Hertha BSC in mourning the sudden and unexpected death of President Kay Bernstein.

In a letter, Union President Dirk Zingler addressed Fabian Drescher, Vice President of Hertha BSC e.V., and Thomas Herrich, Managing Director of Hertha BSC & Co. KGaA:

"On behalf of 1. FC Union Berlin, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences on the sudden death of your president Kay Bernstein.

Kay Bernstein has already left his mark on Hertha BSC during his unfortunately far too short time in office. The terrible news of his death was also a shock for us Unioners, and we share the pain and grief of the Hertha family. We wish Hertha BSC strength and solidarity in these difficult times.

The death of a loved one is a painful and irreplaceable loss. Please convey our deepest sympathy to the Bernstein family and the Hertha fans."
