S3 disruption before Aue game
Travel info:
1. FC Union Berlin will open the league season on Sunday August 5 against FC Erzgebirge Aue and there is some important travel information for fans heading to the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in Köpenick.
Between August 3 and August 6, the S3 train line between Ostkreuz and Wuhlheide will be traffic-free. This means supporters will have significant delays in getting to the ground on Sunday. There will be replacement bus services available from Ostkreuz to Köpenick, which run every eight minutes.
Of course, with limited capacity, it's therefore recommended that other modes of transport are utilised.
Alternative: The S47 S-Bahn train between Hermannstrasse and Spindlersfeld via Schöneweide is highly recommended. Fans can alight at Schöneweide and use the tram service (60/67) to the station Alte Försterei. The return journey from Spindlersfeld is always possible on .08, .28, .48 minutes each hour.
Another alternative is to use S8 from Pankow to S-Bahn Schöneweide and continue with the same tram service to the stadium.
From Alexanderplatz, supporters can travel on U5 to Elsterwerdaer Platz and then use the X69 bus to travel to Köpenick station. The club reminds travellers that there are limited parking places available at the stadium on matchday.
All fans are advised to plan more time for their journey to make for a comfortable and punctual arrival to the stadium for the 15:30 kick off.
More information can be found on the home page of S-Bahn Berlin GmbH.
We would highly recommend that supporters download the various travel apps from Deutsche Bahn and BVG.
