‘EISERN statt EINSAM’ (Iron instead of Lonely), is the phrase often used at this time of yera by the “UNION VEREINT. Schulter an Schulter” foundation, the Economic Council and the Eiserner V.I.R.U.S. e.V. And with this in mind they are organising an Advent market together with the “Laib und Seele” association in the car park at the Fanhaus on Sunday, 8 December between 10:00 and 18:00. A warm invitation is extended in particular to those people whose Christmas season is somewhat more frugal due to personal circumstances.

Stalls with used and new Union items, with used toys and books, as well as with cakes and drinks, invite you to browse and wander. This offers the opportunity to get one or two smaller or even larger Christmas presents in return for small donations. In addition, various social initiatives and institutions will be providing information about their work and will be available to answer any questions that may arise.

The market is initially open from 10:00 to 14:00 to people who receive assistance with their living expenses. Those who wish can register in advance at the fan house with the appropriate proof in order to get easy access. (Lindenstr. 18-19, 12555 Berlin Mon 9-14, Tue 9-17, Wed-Fri 09:00-14:00)

Then, from 14:00 to 18:00, the market is open to everyone for a token entrance fee in the form of non-perishable food (cans, dry goods, etc.), nappies, hygiene products or similar items for daily use. These are distributed by ‘Laib und Seele’ to the needy as part of the regular food distribution on Tuesdays.

It is also possible to support the Advent market by donating:

• used toys (no stuffed animals)
• used Union fan items
• food donations (non-perishable)
