Union take on Dresden on Saturday
U19 Bundesliga:
1. FC Union Berlin welcome Dynamo Dresden to FEZ-Berlin on Saturday March 30 at 13:00.
The Köpenick club enjoyed a two-week break ahead of the final sprint in this season's North-Northeast U19 Bundesliga. Things won't be plain-sailing though, with the top three in the league taking on Union, but there will be chances to take points off those around them in the league table.
"Regardless of who we're playing, we will continue to look at ourselves," said coach Toni Mandl. "The last two weeks have seen training go well for the players and we're ready to attack the next games. The next step in their development is now to get the top performances in the next matches as well."
Before the break, Union lost 2-0 at Hamburg, despite the Berliners competing strongly for long periods. Union are playing a lot of good football, but have struggled to find the important cutting-edge in front of goal. Work has been done over the break on this, and the coach thinks the team are ready to be successful when Dresden come to town.
Saturday's opponents lost 1-0 at TSV Havelse in their last league meeting.
