Union lose at HSV
U19 Bundesliga:
1. FC Union Berlin went down 2-0 at Hamburger SV on Sunday in the U19 Bundesliga Nord/Nordost.
Union managed to perform well in attack during phases of the game, but not enough to test the northern Germans early doors. It was a balanced game, up until Hamburg took the lead after half an hour. A cross from the right was headed in by Peter Beke who went on to score the second goal for Hamburg on 57 minutes.
"We have done a lot right against a strong opponent and our play has made life uncomfortable for Hamburg," said coach Toni Mandl. "I told the team that they can't blame themselves today except for the quality in the end."
Union XI: Oppermann; Alimler, Koch, Rankic, Riecke (Petermann 72); Sander, Dehl, Inaler, Werner (Werbelow 82); Eidtner (Möller 65), Muschkowski (Maciejewski 79)
Union's U19 team are back in action on Wednesday night against Berliner SC at the Hatzfeldtallee in the capital. Kick off is at 19:00. On Saturday, we welcome Dynamo Dresden to the FEZ-Berlin complex for a league match at 13:00.
