Union Berlin thrash Holstein Kiel 13-0
U19 Bundesliga:
1. FC Union Berlin recorded the highest win in U19 Bundesliga history, beating Holstein Kiel 13-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The victory takes Union's U19s up to second place in the North-Northeast table.
Union's attacking start was relentless. The Köpenick club were a goal up inside eight minutes through Fisnik Asllani before Laurenz Dehl netted after 13 minutes. Kiel struggled to cope with Union's precision and strength with Ensar Aksakal scoring the third on 17 minutes. Before the half was out, Asllani netted his hat-trick, while Dehl added a second and Tim Maciejewski put his name on the scoresheet.
Although the second half started in a more competitive fashion, it was a matter of time before Union added to the lead. Asllani scored his fourth of the match on 51 minutes and Maciejewski doubled his tally two minutes later. Substitute Emir Can Gencel added a 10th goal for Union on 57 minutes and Marcus Ihbe, another bench option, made it 11 and 12 respectively. The scoring started with Asllani and ended with the youngster who capped off an exciting performance with his fifth of the afternoon.
"That was a great performance today," said head coach Andre Vilk. "I don't think you can say much more about that. The result speaks for itself. We're not looking at our place in the standings, but we couldn't have started the season better. The goal for the near future must now be to classify this result correctly and also achieve positive results in the upcoming games."
