Union Berlin take on third-placed Werder Bremen

1. FC Union Berlin are on the road in the U19 Bundesliga this Sunday (April 7) against SV Werder Bremen, who are currently sitting in third position behind FC St. Pauli & Wolfsburg.

"We are looking forward to the game," said head coach Toni Mandl. "Bremen plays at the highest level. They also have national team players in their ranks. For our lads, it's a great chance to compete with the best. We want to bring our best performance to the pitch and make it as uncomfortable as possible for the opponent to demand everything."

Last time out, Union drew 2-2 with Dynamo Dresden. The U19 side dominated the game and got two goals through top scorer Daniel Eidtner. But Dresden grew into the final half an hour of the match and were able to take their chances, equalising in the third minute of added time. "To win these games you need a good day. That includes not conceding anything for the whole 90 minutes," added Mandl.

Meanwhile, Werder are the strongest team in the division this year. In eight games, Bremen have won seven of them and last time out, beat Havelse 2-0.

The match takes place on Franz-Böhmert-Straße 7 at 11am.
