Union Berlin suffer defeat at Hannover 96

Hannover 96 proved too strong for 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday as the Reds ran out 4-2 winners in the U19 Bundesliga.

Christian Stuff assumed responsibilities for the team on matchday, with head coach Toni Mandl absent for health reasons. "The team was busy and created good chance, and should have gone ahead," said Stuff.

The Köpenick club fired themselves into the lead after an hour: Daniel Eidtner scoring his eighth of the league campaign. Goals from American Sebastian Soto and Leon Damer put the home side back ahead going into the interval. Justin Neiss scored from the penalty spot after the interval, but Leon Sitz pulled one back in what was an end-to-end affair. Neiss found the net again, seven minutes from the end, with a free-kick.

Union XI: Oppermann; Rankic, Alimler, Sander; Aksakal (Sitz 55), Dehl, Inaler, Gencel (Petermann 86), Opfermann Arcones; Eidtner, Werner
