Union Berlin lose 2-0 to 1. FC Magdeburg

1. FC Union Berlin suffered their fourth straight defeat in the U19 Bundesliga, losing 2-0 to 1. FC Magdeburg on Saturday November 10.

Although Union started the better side, their opponents struck first blood. The Köpenick club were unable to clear their lines from a corner kick and Luca-Falk Menke fired the ball goalwards after 16 minutes. Tim Muschkowski was a threat for Union and he came close midway through the first period but was denied by Magdeburg keeper Tim Kips.

Joris Möller missed a good chance after the break, heading past the crossbar from about 16 yards out. However, despite the pressure from the home side, Magdeburg hit the sucker-punch on the break with Theo Ogbidi putting the ball in the net.

"We have created too few chances. Now we have a week's break and want to again fight for something," said head coach Wili Weiße.

Union XI: Oppermann; Sander (Möller 51), Lindemann, Riecke, Alimler; Opfermann, Gencel, Cinar (Aksakal 70), Sitz (Werner 70); Eidtner, Muschkowski (Werbelow 89)

Union's Cup match with BFC Preussen has been rescheduled and will take place on Wednesday November 21 at 18:30 at the Preussen Stadion. The next U19 Bundesliga takes place on Saturday November 24 against FC St. Pauli of Hamburg.
