Union Berlin lose 0-2 to Wolfsburg
U19 Bundesliga:
1. FC Union Berlin's U19 side lost 2-0 at home to VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.
Though the Köpenick club started well, the air was taken out of their sails just past the half hour mark. Dominik Marx opened the scoring for Wolfsburg on 33 minutes before Soufiane Messeguem doubled the lead on 39 minutes. Daniel Eidtner came close just after the restart to bringing Union back into the game, but the Wolves showed their strength to remain two points behind leaders FC St. Pauli after 13 matches.
"It was a highly intensive game," said coach Wili Weiße. "Wolfsburg gave us little space. In the second half, we got back into the game and ended on a positive note."
XI: Oppermann; Sander, Rankic, Riecke, Alimler; Opfermann Arcones, Gencel, Inaler, Sitz; Eidtner, Werner
