Union Berlin expect strong test at RB Leipzig
U19 Bundesliga:
After last week’s home draw against German champions Hertha BSC, the U19 team of 1. FC Union Berlin face another difficult test in the Bundesliga. The Köpenick club make the convenient trip to Leipzig on Saturday September 22 for a 13:30 kick-off at RB Leipzig’s training ground.
The oldest youth team of Union have made a solid start to the campaign with four points in away fixtures and two clean sheets. “I’m very satisfied with the performances shown so far. However we saw against Hertha how quickly a game can turn. The point was ultimately proof of our strength of character because we responded to both equalisers and fought back to Hertha’s lead,” said head coach for the U19 squad Willi Weiße.
Leipzig went down to St. Pauli on the opening game, but have bounced back with four straight wins without conceding a goal in three of them.
“We want to prevent the home side from palying their usual game in Leipzig. If possible, let’s keep them out of the game. But it is just as important to act with bravery when we have the ball too,” added the Union coach.
