Union Berlin and TSV Havelse draw 2-2
U19 Bundesliga:
1. FC Union Berlin struck in stoppage time to secure a 2-2 draw with TSV Havelse in the U19 Bundesliga North.
The home side started strongest and created the best chances. However, Havelse struck against the run of play after 21 minutes. Union keeper Leo Opermann had no chance to keep out a close-range finish from Jean Luca van Eupen. Seven minutes later, Serhat Yazgan gave the Lower Saxony club a two-goal lead in the capital.
But Union showed spirit to fight back in the second half. Daniel Eidtner scored shortly after the break as the Köpenick club looked hungry to take on the fightback. Though it took until the closing stages, Laurenz Dahl scored with a neat finish past the Havelse keeper to bag a point.
"The result is disappointing in the end," says coach Toni Mandl. "We had clearly focused to win this home game. We got into the game well with possession. Unfortunately we lost two goals through two poor situations. In the second half, we showed good attitude to turn it back to 2-2. In the end, we even had the chances to win."
Union XI: Oppermann; Rankic, Sander, Gencel, Alimler; Inaler (Muschkowski 86), Aksakal, Dehl, Opfermann Arcones; Eidtner, Petermann (Werner 73)
Next up, Union take on Hannover away from home on Saturday February 16 at 14:00.
