Union Berlin U17 beat Hertha BSC to retain Berlin Cup

Union Berlin's under-17 side saw off the challenge from Hertha BSC to collect the Berlin Cup for the second successive season.

The Köpenick club drew first blood after 15 minutes when William Kuhnigk finished off directly from a corner kick. Union retreated into their own half and played more on the break in the first half. Paul Krüger equalised for the opponents in blue and white with 10 minutes until the half-time whistle.

Unchanged at the restart, Hertha came out on top and looked the dominant side. But Union packed a punch in attack and turned the game on its head with nine minutes to go. Nikol cut open the Hertha defence with a through ball to Til Muschkowski who finished off in front of goal to kick off the celebrations for Eisern Union.

1. FC Union Berlin XI: Opfermann – Kuhnigk, Riecke, Liebelt, Steinbauer – Maciejewski, Gencel, Dehl – Möller, Muschkowski, Werbelow (47. Nikol).

Subs: Nikol, Markhoff, Koch
